We use 2-3 coats of pure grape seed oil to pre-season your Smithey with. Seasoning is applied by hand and there are no chemical coatings of any kind applied to your skillet.

I roasted a whole chicken in a preheated no 10. It fit perfectly super crispy skin and very juicy breast meat. Very easy cleanup of the pan. Way better than any cast iron pan I had due to the polished surface. It will last a lifetime.
Bought No. 10 combo and it's priceless as it made me enjoy cooking for the first time in my life! always hated cooking b/c food always came out bad. The cookware I used were "high end" such as All Clad, Le Creuset so no excuse, and I even did a CI experiment with Lodge but everything stuck to it. Wanting to revisit cooking to see if this time it will "stick" (no pun intended), did a LOT of research and decided on Smithey. Package was stolen and dumped into neighbor's garbage - fortunately the cookware was there but no accessories. Smithey replaced the accessories - therefore if you have any problems, they'll make it right!
Out of the box, I cooked as is on the griddle. The first batch of eggs stuck which was a beginner's mistake and became scrambled, but after that, the fried sunny side up eggs came out exactly like how I love them. b/c of the success, I now love cooking and finally understand why others do. With all variables being the same, it's clearly Smithey cookware that made me successful since it heats so evenly, non-stick, and you can fry! Giving me joy is priceless, I appreciate this company so much.
