Carbon Steel Farmhouse Skillet

A genuine “farmhouse” skillet, inspired by American blacksmith design of the 18th and 19th century, the new Smithey 12” carbon steel skillet is as much work of art as it is a cooking tool. We hand-forge a limited number of these skillets in partnership with renowned Charleston blacksmith Robert Thomas Iron Design.  Each piece is visually unique while sharing core design features such as a handle inspired by traditional fire tools and the signature Smithey 3-holed helper handle. With performance that rivals cast iron at a lighter weight, these skillets are designed to elevate your everyday cooking experience.

Simple Magnificence

My cooking is my art. It's how I express myself. It's how I stay sane in a crazy world. As such, I strive to save up and get the best tools when I can. This skillet is one of those best tools! It is simple, beautiful, sturdy, and cooks the most magnificent green beans from our garden I have ever tasted. The pan comes with clear and helpful care instructions, which I have stuck to, and the pan has done so well. It's worth the price. That's all I can say. I love this skillet!

Excellent in every way

When I first got the Farmhouse Skillet delivered and after unpacking it, I put it on the stove top for display it was so unique and so gorgeous. I love to cook and of all of the top notch cooking equipment I have, from All-Clad, Finex, Burough Furnace, Viking, Magnalite and others, this has to be the stand-out skillet. The handle stays holdable, not generating much heat during cooking. The workmanship is top notch. The look of the skillet, if you have a love of preparing food, is like having a Bentley in your garage. This is one magnificent skillet. I've cooked in it more than a few times since its arrival and the distribution of heat on the bottom of the fry pan is wonderful. I cooked up a batch of meatballs from scratch and each one was cooked evenly throughout the pan. I LOVE this frypan/skillet!!! After use, I gently wash with a drop of liquid dish detergent and a scratch proof sponge and then lightly spread either olive, flaxseed or grapseed oil over the entire surface. I have yet to put the skillet in the underneath storage area. It's too beautiful, like a work of art. Right now it's sitting on the stove top to be admired! The skillet is pricey but that's what quality costs. If you love to cook, get this!! It looks great, cooks great, and will last generations!! Great job Smithey! Thank you for such an exciting piece of cookware!!

Artwork

I was afraid to use this skillet it looked so beautiful at first but after using it a few times I know this will be my go to skillet. This is my first carbon steel piece and will definitely set my sights on adding a few more to the collection.
