NO CHEMICAL COATINGS

Unlike many non-stick pans, every piece of Smithey cast iron is completely free of PFOA, PFAS, and PTFE. Instead, we pre-season our cookware with pure grapeseed oil, building a naturally nonstick surface that only gets better with use.

EASY TO CLEAN

Cast iron gets a bad rap for being hard to clean. We’re here to bust that myth and let you know that polished cast iron is easy to clean. Unlike rough cast iron, which allows food to get stuck in the crevices, polished cast iron like Smithey has a smooth surface that practically wipes clean. We stand behind the quality of our cast iron and carbon steel cookware. If your cookware is defective, we’ll replace it. If your cookware fails you after honest and normal use, we’ll repair or replace it.

Can I use the No. 14 skillet on my glass top or induction stove?

Yes! However, it is important that your burner be approximately as large as the underside of the No. 14 skillet to ensure even heat distribution (we recommend at least a 10" burner). If you're on a smaller stove, it is important to gradually bring your Smithey to temperature to ensure even heat distribution.

What size sleeve fits my No. 14 skillet?

Our standard size leather skillet sleeve is custom fit for your No. 14 skillet.

What is the purpose of the three holes on the helper handle of the skillet?

The three holes are a unique identifier that allows a Smithey to stand in a crowd. Reach for it on the range!

Just amazing skillet

Our beloved 14 in cast iron skillet which was my great grandmother's split by the handle after a long, useful life. My husband bought the 12 in Lodge one but the middle was bowed. Plus, it just wasn't big enough to make all of those zucchini pancakes once the season is here. The moment the No. 14 skillet arrived, we knew it was the 'ONE'!!!

didn't know i needed it til i used it

love this skillet and i had no idea i needed a skillet this large until i used it. i can cook a large family meal of meats all at once versus in shifts. cooks all of the meats evenly and the flavor is even better than in my other pans and skillets. makes delicious country fried steaks and a wonderful stir fry. we've tested a few random dishes this far and have loved them all in this skillet. only hang-up, is i have carpal tunnel so the weight is tough to hold when cleaning it out. i do have to have help.

Scratched off when I cleaned first time.

I seasoned it with your seasoning oil, then put it in the over a recommended. I started off with a burger and onion and recipe, per your instructions. When I finished I rinsed off the cooking surface and all the copper look came off, it’s silver now. Scratches from cleaning it with the chain mail you provided. I was expecting the look to last for a lease a few cooks.

They still DO build them like they used to!

This has been my first purchase of Smithey Ironware. I have an antique No. 14 cast iron pan in my collection and compared them side by side. The Smithey No. 14 Skillet more than held its own in comparison to the antique. The Smithey is not only substantial in weight, but extremely well-balanced to handle. The machining of the pan created a surface that was smooth and easy to use for the first time, and I was impressed with the even heat distribution. I look forward to adding more Smithey's to my collection!
