A genuine “farmhouse” skillet, inspired by American blacksmith design of the 18th and 19th century, the Smithey 12” carbon steel skillet is as much of a work of art as it is a cooking tool. Limited in nature and forged by hand, each Farmhouse skillet is crafted by an artisan blacksmith in Charleston, SC. Each piece is visually unique while sharing core design features such as a handle inspired by traditional fire tools and the signature Smithey 3-holed helper handle. With performance that rivals cast iron at a lighter weight, these skillets are designed to elevate your everyday cooking experience.

Farmhouse Skillet

We stand behind the quality of our cast iron and carbon steel cookware. If your cookware is defective, we’ll replace it. If your cookware fails you after honest and normal use, we’ll repair or replace it.

Do you have a lid that fits the Farmhouse skillet?

Due to the hand-forged nature of our carbon steel cookware and with each piece being slightly unique, we do not have a custom fitting lid for our Farmhouse skillet.

Does the leather sleeve fit the Farmhouse skillet?

We think that the handle of our Farmhouse skillet is too handsome to cover up with a sleeve, so we do not have a custom fit sleeve for this piece. We recommend using our full-grain leather or suede potholder however.

Will the handle get hot?

With any piece of carbon steel cookware heat will eventually make its way to the handle. However, more often than not if making a quick stir-fry or searing a piece of protein the handle will not get hot.

Just figuring it out

Learning how to use it and getting it well seasoned. Trying to cook everything on it at the moment.....when its clean,hot and oiled eggs do really well. Not so much after cooking bacon or sausage.. then they stick. Again its probably a learning curve. Love the style and versatility and look forward to using it until it ends up in my sons kitchen.

a very nice skillet

I didn't really need this skillet, but bought it because it was hand forged. I am very happy I bought it. I seasoned it once before use and it is nonstick I might buy round roaster in the coming months.
