No, due to the curved interior of the No. 10 Chef skillet our 10" glass lid is not a custom fit. Technically yes it will function as a lid, but it is not a tight custom fit.
We use 2-3 coats of pure grape seed oil to pre-season your Smithey with. Seasoning is applied by hand and there are no chemical coatings of any kind applied to your skillet.
The three holes are a unique identifier that allows a Smithey to stand in a crowd. Reach for it on the range!
Excellent craftsmanship. The number 11 was my go to but can be a bit heavy if you are just searing a steak or make eggs for breakfast. This skillet is the perfect size and weight for an every day cooking pan. 10/10. Now I just need another one for my side dishes
I’ve cooked on many brands of cast iron skillets over the years. The way Smithey polishes the cast iron isn’t a game changer for me. I first started with the number 11. After 2 years it has become the staple to everything I cook. I purchased the number 10 and it’s a bit lighter to it makes things easier when cooking single portions. I won’t stop until I have the whole set now. With so many studies coming out about toxic chemicals on our cookware and in our food I keep seeing smithey being the first choice for nontoxic cookware. This things will last a lifetime and the customer service with this company is top notch. Make an investment that will last you and your family a lifetime. You will not regret it.
