Unlike many non-stick pans, every piece of Smithey cast iron is completely free of PFOA, PFAS, and PTFE. Instead, we pre-season our cookware with pure grapeseed oil, building a naturally nonstick surface that only gets better with use.

We stand behind the quality of our cast iron and carbon steel cookware. If your cookware is defective, we’ll replace it. If your cookware fails you after honest and normal use, we’ll repair or replace it.

Do you have a lid that fits the No. 8 Chef Skillet?

No, we do not currently have a lid for our No. 8 Chef skillet.

What oil do you use to pre-season with?

We use 2-3 coats of pure grape seed oil to pre-season your Smithey with. Seasoning is applied by hand and there are no chemical coatings of any kind applied to your skillet.

What size sleeve fits the No. 8 Chef Skillet?

Our extended length leather skillet sleeve is custom fit for your No. 8 skillet.

Fabulous

I’ve always been very leery of cooking eggs in a cast iron pan until I bought our new smithey. It’s great for everything I’ve tried so far and keeps getting better. It’s by far the best small skillet I’ve owned in my 60+ years.

Almost perfect

I wanted to get rid of my probably toxic but extremely nonstick and convenient to clean ceramic pans.

I was planning on buying a cheap Lodge cast iron pan from TJ Maxx and started researching the best US made cast iron.

All websites mentioned Smithey as one of the smoothest and best and all reviews were great.

I ordered 3 pieces and 2 were perfect. The 8" chef skillet is almost perfect, but the very center has an imperfection that catches on my metal spatula and collects food.

No 8 Chef Skillet

I bought this kind of as a test to see how it compared with my other case iron. I wasn’t disappointed! The food slides off with no sticking. Sautéed food flip is fun again! Definitely passed the test I will be ordering more!
