Skillet is nice and solid. The inside is noticably smoother than most cast iron skillet. I will have to season it properly. The factory seasoning is not very well done.

Yes! However, for best results, ensure your burner is at least 10" in diameter to promote even heat distribution. If using a smaller burner, gradually bring your Smithey up to temperature to avoid hot spots.
We use 2-3 coats of pure grape seed oil to pre-season your Smithey with. Seasoning is applied by hand and there are no chemical coatings of any kind applied to your skillet.

I bought this skillet after receiving a recommendation from a family member about how well it cooks. Super easy to use, and as long as you follow all of the directions that Smithey provides (with cooking and cleaning) it is an absolute breeze. The sear that it generates on meats is rather impressive as well. I live in a smaller apartment, and I bought this for better heat control as well (given the apartment usually can get smokey when searing). Since using the smithey, no problems, no fire alarms, just perfectly cooked foods in a well seasoned skillet. Looking forward to potentially adding a carbon steel pan to round out the collection.

What can I say, this is my 4th Smithy! I’m slowly replacing all my cast iron with Smithy! They have the absolute best cooking surfaces and clean up beautifully!
