Awesome piece of cookware. Beautifully made and the lid fits like a glove. Smithy makes the only large deep skillet with a lid that I could find. Machined surface is wonderfully smooth. My only complaint is it is a bit heavier than it needs to be. Hard to move one handed and difficult to pour and toss food. A little taper on the wall thickness might save some weight without reducing cooking efficiency. Otherwise a great piece.

This skillet is incredible. At first I was surprised by the weight, but I have embraced it and love it as I can move my food around the skillet while it cooks without holding it, since the weight keeps it firmly on the stove without support. Its nonstick quality after properly seasoning it is awesome, and was exactly what I was looking for to not worry about any kind of non-natural coating scraping off over time and going into my food.

I must admit - I get a deep sense of pride having and cooking with my no. 11 deep skillet and glass lid, as well as my no. 14 skillet. I’ve used both for numerous summer meals and cannot say enough about how they cook. I plan add more skillets to my kitchen soon.
