It does Exactly what I wanted. Perfect. I have the 7.5 Dutch Over as well, but this is a great size. I will probably get the smaller one as well.
The Smithey Dutch oven is non-enameled and naturally seasoned with a pure grape-seed oil. While great for breads, soups, stews and more- boiling pasta or water is not the best use of your Smithey Dutch oven.
A well-seasoned Smithey does not fear any acidic dishes. Before diving into chili and tomato sauces however, we recommend establishing a more mature seasoning layer through baking or frying.
Yes! When using as a campfire Dutch oven we recommend inverting your lid so coals will stay on top.

This is the pride of my collection. Beautiful out of the box and it gets more character after each use. This is cookware that one would be proud to hand down for generations.
The day I got it I made my first try at Beef Bourguignon. Delicious! And the Dutch oven was just perfect for it.
I love everything about this 5.5qt Dutch oven! Especially how my daughter will be using it long after I’m not. It’s certainly a multi generational heirloom piece and worth every penny!
I have a few other Smithey cookware and I really love them, so I bought this dutch oven mostly to make stews and soups, but no matter how well I clean it out with my chainmail scrubber it has a black oily residue that wont come off. And my soups and stews always have an irony/metallic taste to them that isn't enjoyable at all to say the least. The things it does well though..roasting veggies!
