Due to the hand-forged nature of our carbon steel cookware and with each piece being slightly unique, we do not have a custom fitting lid for our Farmhouse skillet.
We think that the handle of our Farmhouse skillet is too handsome to cover up with a sleeve, so we do not have a custom fit sleeve for this piece. We recommend using our full-grain leather or suede potholder however.
With any piece of carbon steel cookware heat will eventually make its way to the handle. However, more often than not if making a quick stir-fry or searing a piece of protein the handle will not get hot.
I am slowly learning how to use the skillet. I have been used to a nonstick pan. I like the size and low edge that makes access to the foods easier.
I kept thinking about Farmhouse skillet, yet wouldn't pull the trigger as I had 3 high-end Carbon Steel Skillets. My husband had purchased the Smithey Round Roaster last year. I loved it so much ... that I knew I needed the Farmhouse for this year's sale. It is a beautiful skillet that is fun to cook on. Non-stick from the get-go, warms up quickly, easy to clean, and displays beautifully. I have a lot of Smithey and will continue to purchase more. thank you for your attention to beautiful detail !
I bought the 12” cast iron and carbon steel. I have never owned a cast iron that was so easy to clean. The carbon steel is significantly lighter and cleans easily. I will be ordering the deeper carbon steel farmhouse next.
