Carbon Steel Farmhouse Skillet

A genuine “farmhouse” skillet, inspired by American blacksmith design of the 18th and 19th century, the new Smithey 12” carbon steel skillet is as much work of art as it is a cooking tool. We hand-forge a limited number of these skillets in partnership with renowned Charleston blacksmith Robert Thomas Iron Design.  Each piece is visually unique while sharing core design features such as a handle inspired by traditional fire tools and the signature Smithey 3-holed helper handle. With performance that rivals cast iron at a lighter weight, these skillets are designed to elevate your everyday cooking experience.

Work of Art

This skillet is so beautifully crafted you might be tempted to not cook with it-but you should. It cooks every bit as good as it looks.

Great gift

I gave this as a gift to my Father and he just loves it. Said I had to get my own.
Thanks for making a great product.

Artful cooking

I enjoy beautiful and functional cookware and this hand wrought skillet certainly fills the bill in both the ‘ beautiful and functional’ department. I love to cook and I love having ‘artful’, well designed equipment to do it in. This exquisite handmade skillet is like the jewelry on the little black dress - it takes the ordinary and elevates it to the extraordinary. It just makes everthing taste better!

Farmhouse Skillet

I ordered this skillet as an heirloom piece for my wife. Something we could pass down the line. I have always had an affinity for hand forged pieces of any nature, as I know how much heart and soul the smith puts into each piece. This skillet did not disappoint. It is beautifully crafted. The hammer marks left on the lip /rim are a beautiful touch. The hot riveted handle with its texture that is as unique as a fingerprint adds to the charm of the piece. The fact that it was forged ninety miles away from me in Charleston seals the deal. It cooks extremely evenly, holds heat like a champ, and sears beautifully. I am still working on building the seasoning up, and can’t wait to see it get even better as it ages. Thank you for a wonderful skillet that will provide generations of use. Here in the South our culture is tied to the table. This skillet helps to make it not just a meal, but an experience. Thank you Smithey.
