Like cast iron, these sleeves get better with time and use.
No, our sleeves are not sized to fit our carbon steel cookware.
We do not recommend placing your leather sleeve in the oven. As leather is a natural material, it can burn.
The whole purpose for having a sleeve on the handle of a cast iron pan is to be able to not have to touch the pan. Maybe it needs a break in period, but it's too tight to get on or off the pan without holding the pan in place.

Leather sleeve very nice and absolute necessity as the pan handle gets hot.
I keep the sleeve on for things like frying eggs, where the heating time is short enough that the handle won't get too hot. I don't know if the sleeve would take the heat for a longer time at a hotter temperature, being made of leather.
