Getting Started with The Griddle

The Double Burner Griddle is our largest piece of cast iron to date, spanning two burners for cooking large quantities of food with precision and ease. When getting started with your griddle, it is important to give it time to heat evenly and fully before you begin cooking.

Cast iron is a dense material that holds heat exceptionally well - the trade-off is that it tends to spread heat more slowly than some other materials. When bringing the griddle up to temperature there may be initial hot spots - this is common and the surface temperature will even out as the griddle warms. For best results, allow it to fully preheat across both burners before cooking. Since the griddle is designed to cover two burners, you can adjust your heat accordingly, based on how and what you are cooking.

The griddle, like all our cast iron cookware, works on all heat sources. However, this product is ideal for use on a gas range, where heat is delivered more directly. An electric or glass-top burner may require a bit more time to heat up in order to achieve even heat distribution.
