Crusty old Griswold
There’s no telling how many chickens that my Mother fried in her #10 Griswold skillet, but I’m glad it came to me from her estate. The burned-on crust was too much for me, but you folks restored it to like-new! Thanks!!

I had high hopes when I sent my mother-in-law's skillet to you for restoration. It was in pretty bad shape but I was told that it would return in almost brand new condition. What I got back was not quite what I expected. It appears very little work had been done to it but it was somehow treated with a coating but the interior and exterior remained quite rough. I am using it and it it works adequately. However it is not very pretty. I hope for better, but maybe that's the best they could do.
I had (as far as I could tell) a mid -1910's Wagner 7 pan that I stole from my Father when I left home 37 years ago. I assume he stole it from his mother when he left home 30 years before that! It was usable but in rough shape. Lots of build up and had suffered from years of abuse . The Smithey Team made it like new, it is such a beautiful piece now. I have always loved this pan but even more so now. I think I'll be handing it down to one of my kids (hopefully in another 30 years).
We inherited an old Wagner #6 skillet. It looked to have been used on a coal fired stove by the thick, heavy carbon on the outside of the skillet. The interior wasn't horrible but wasn't really something I wanted to use to cook.
I looked on the internet to see about restoring it myself or having one of the other sites that do restorations do it. Doing it myself looked interesting but, boy, a very messy procedure and re-seasoning it myself from bare metal wasn't something I wanted to try. The other sites that advertise restoration might be great but they all seem to be small/hobby level operations. I found the info on the Smithey site that they do restorations and opted to use them as opposed to the other folks doing it. Since they manufacture I felt they would be much more reliable than the smaller cottage industry restorers. I really didn't feel comfortable with sending off a family heirloom to ANYBODY but the process Smithey had seemed well thought out and professional. We put a restoration order in on the website and the process worked great, logical process and we were kept informed as it progressed.
The skillet came back in absolutely gorgeous condition, completely cleaned down to bare metal and seasoned perfectly. It still has a few nicks from use ages ago so Smithey's process didn't remove any metal, no change to the character of our skillet, just brought back to life. Cooking with it, the seasoning is great.
We're very happy with the results and I…
Great restoration. Looking forward to pancakes and eggs soon.
