Heavier than expected :(
I like the machined internal finish of course, but the heavy weight was surprising. My vintage Wagner and Griswold cast iron skillets are the same size (also with the machined surface) but are much lighter pans and have been working great for 80 years. Why is Smithy so heavy?? Also, the bottom of the pan is not a smooth flat surface. There is ridge around the circumference that catches on the grill plates on my gas stove top. I can not slide the pans around from burner to burner. The little lip catches on everything...Might have to machine it off but that's a lot of work...Alas.
