Good size
Have a few large Dutch ovens , needed one smaller for side dishes or casserole for two. This is a great size, cooks well , easy clean up. Perfect
The Smithey Dutch oven is non-enameled and naturally seasoned with a pure grape-seed oil. While great for breads, soups, stews and more- boiling pasta or water is not the best use of your Smithey Dutch oven.
A well-seasoned Smithey does not fear any acidic dishes. Before diving into chili and tomato sauces however, we recommend establishing a more mature seasoning layer through baking or frying.
No, currently the 3.5QT lid only fits our 3.5QT Dutch oven.

I'm a sucker for smithy's design of cast iron cookware and this Dutch oven is no different. As someone who is very particular about the tools he cooks with. Smithy is quickly becoming a staple in my kitchen. As I hardly use anything else. Do yourself a favor and grab one.
I have cooked in professional kitchens. I have bought all kinds of expensive cookware for my own kitchen. I love cast iron, just something about the way it heats. I used this piece to fry potato chips for its first use. The second use was beef stew. It browned beautifully and when I deglazed the oven, it immediately released all of the bits and goodness from the bottom of the pan. This dutch oven and my 8" chef's skillet are the best cookware purchase I have ever made. I will be at Headwater's Outfitters in NC in March and plan to pick up a couple more pieces there. Get good stuff, spend money in a place I love, and shop local!
I love this piece from Smithey. I have used it to roast ducks, make beef pot pie with biscuits, slow cook venison roast and bake sourdough. It inspires me to be create in the kitchen!
Another amazing product from Smithey
