LOOK FOR THE ANCHOR - A NEW 'MAKER'S MARK' TO CELEBRATE 10 YEARS
We like to think of Smithey as a young company with an old soul. While the idea for Smithey was inspired by the best of vintage American cookware design, people are sometimes surprised to learn that Smithey itself was founded relatively recently in 2015, which makes this year our 10th anniversary. And for all of those 10 years we’ve been making every Smithey near our local waters, from a backyard home workshop near Charleston harbor to a small garage facility near Folly Beach that gave our founder Isaac easy access to surfing, to an old Naval base in N. Charleston where today our operations are nestled amongst huge ships in various stages of de-construction and repair. In honor of our 10th anniversary and the old shipyard where your carbon steel cookware is forged by a team of artisan blacksmiths, we’ve added something special to our new carbon steel Fish Skillet – a small anchor ‘maker’s mark’. This mark is intended as a happy wink to our navy base home and our makers and this moment in time – as we like to say, we hope you'll find it Perfectly Done…
